THE HISTORY OF OUR CHURCH On March 9, 1969 a group of people met at the Union Hall on U. S. Highway 62 in Calvert City, Kentucky to consider the organization of an Independent Baptist Church. Thirty-nine people joined to make up the mission that would be organized into Lakeland Baptist Temple. The first service was held March 12, in a former Church of Christ building in downtown Calvert City. The church was formally organized on April 18, 1969 under the authority and sponsorship of New Hope Baptist Church with Bro. John T. Hardie as moderator and Bro. Marvin W. Hall as clerk of the Presbytery. In 1971 a new building was constructed at the intersection of U. S. Highway 62 and State Highway 95 in Calvert City. The present building was constructed after the original structure was lost to a destructive fire. |
