My Wife's Columbo "Connection"
Several years ago I read in our local paper about a local man who had left this area and was a musician on cruise ships, etc. It also mentioned that he had appeared as a piano player in a "Columbo" episode. I don't believe it mentioned what episode he had appeared in. Later I saw the episode "It's All in the Game" with Faye Dunaway and there was a piano player in an early scene and I wondered if that was the man from our area.
A few months ago (October, 2001) I married a former school teacher. There was an announcement in our paper recently (April, 2002) that a man named Sammy Goldstein was to give a local concert. From the info in the paper about him playing piano on cruise ships I could see it was the same man I had read about several years ago although this time there was no mention of him appearing in a Columbo episode. I mentioned it to my wife. She said she would like to go to the concert. I asked her why. She said Sammy was one of her former pupils. And there we have my wife's "Columbo" connection.
Small world that her new husband has a Columbo site and small world that one of her former pupils appeared on a "Columbo" episode. Actually I had showed her the episode before we got married, but she didn't recognize him as he had been in her fourth-grade class. My wife and I have had a number of "small worlds" since we met 18 months ago, but that is another story.
