About the Author
Linda Fields began collecting pie birds
in 1991 after reading an article featuring Lillian Cole in
"Country Woman" magazine. She contacted Lillian just in
time to receive the 1992 "Pie Birds Unlimited" Newsletter,
and all back issues.
The rest is history. Her collection now
exceeds 800 pie birds. Unlike most collectors, Linda's collection is
all bird shapes with the exception of six non-bird shaped gifts. She
collects new, as well as old, pie birds.
Linda, along with her husband Bobby,
set about the enormous task of organizing the first ever Pie Bird
Collectors Convention. This convention, which gathered 166 fellow
collectors from 28 States, Canada and England was held in 1996, in
Paris, Tn. Other conventions followed in 1998, 2000 and 2002. The
next convention will be held the third weekend in June, 2004.
Linda and her collection have been
twice featured on television, first on Nashville's WDCN
"Tennessee Crossroads" and later on Murray, Kentucky's WQTV
"Hinton and Collier Show."
A Vice President of Security Bank in
Paris, Tennessee, she and her husband reside in Dover, Tennessee.
