Paris is located in Henry County on the west bank of beautiful Kentucky Lake in west Tennessee, halfway between the metropolitan areas of Nashville and Memphis. It is served by two major highways, U.S. 79, running from southeast to northwest in the state, and U.S. 641, running north and south. Like many towns, Paris has its own claims to fame. It was the home of three Tennessee governors. The son of Davy Crockett, John W., is buried in the city cemetery and decendents of Davy still live here.

It is the home town of Tony winner Cherry Jones.

If you are a senior citizen you might remember taking Grove's Chill Tonic as a child. E.W. Grove started that medicine right here in Paris and a school is named after him.

The mining of clay is an important industry here. Ever use any Kitty Litter? then your cat has stepped on a part of Paris soil!

As far as industry is concerned the city is one of a few in the state to win Tennessee's Three-Star Award for industrial readiness. Its companies make power tools and brakes, small electric motors, metal doors, rubber parts, school laboratory furniture and ceramic lighting fixtures.

And let's not forget Kentucky Lake. The area draws visitors from all over the country and many have returned to retire here, settling along the shores of the lake. The area's status as a retirement center has been written up in the Wall Street Journal and other publications.

Each year the city celebrates the "World's Largest Fish Fry," a week-long festival drawing over 75,000 visitors.

Like its namesake, Paris has its own Eiffel Tower and in June Eiffel Tower Days is celebrated along with a hot-air Balloon Festival.
