ORR, BOND CASH IN WAR BONDS

 

Kenny Dale Orr and Jaamal Bond were the big winners in the opener of the Motorcycle Stuff Tenth Annual Tennessee State Stadia-Cross Championship Series at the Henry County Fairgrounds Arena in Paris, TN. Almost 300 riders were greeted with a new challenging track design with near perfect weather, although rain threatened the surrounding area limiting the turn out. The promoter, The Paris Dirt Trackers, Inc celebrated their 10th anniversary of the series with a youth appreciation night. All youth riders had the opportunity to ride a second class for free resulting in over 80 youth entries. Murray, KY's Kenny Dale Orr fresh off a top ten Finish at Loretta Lynn's was the man to beat in the youth classes taking Suzuki contingency money by winning the 85 SR and Super Mini and took 2nd against the 125's in the schoolboy class on his CGR, Suzuki of Paris RM 80. Orr's competition, Ben Crittenden also of Murray KY was Runner up in the SR and Super Mini. 21 lined up with Cody Miller of Franklin KY leading a Suzuki sweep of the 85JR class over Austin Wells and Brady Orr, all three sharing contingency money from Suzuki. Miller also was runner up to Hunter Inman in the 65 Class. Alex Ray of Milan, TN led a cobra sweep of the 50 class but it wasn't easy as early leader Logan Pollard and Ray took an early exit from the track thinking the race was over. By the time they corrected their mistake, Ray held the lead to the finish, but Pollard had further to go working his way back to third.

Jamaal Bond of Jackson TN put his Bob's Honda CR250 out front early taking the war and the battle in the 250A over Marty Stinnett and Darrel Blankenship. Eleven riders chased the cash in this class and with Bond taking the 125A class as well over Blankenship and Russell Hall. He was the man with the plan and the CASH. Marty Stinnett and Jordan Moneymaker were top dogs of the semi-pro vet classes. Clint Burkeen put his Suzuki to an early lead in the 16-24 class over

Moneymaker but felt the pressure lap after lap as Moneymaker placed his Mid South Motoplex Kawasaki on the Suzuki riders rear fender, finally taking the outside line around the treacherous off camber turn sealing the victory and getting an early lead on yet another State Title. Honda mounted Marty Stinnett coming off a runner up finish in the 250A was not ready to repeat the placing in the 25+ class instead took the point early and led Shane Vaughn and fellow Kentuckian Lonnie Evans home.

Quad wars heated up too with 85 quads entered in eleven classes. Dan Owens and Michael Sisco swapping licks in the 4 Stroke B and 25+. Owens, fresh off the National Moto Cross runner up finish at Loretta's in the 4 stroke B class on his CGR, Service Rental, Honda of Paris, Hulme Sporting Goods, 400EX took the class with Sisco in tow but the rolls reversed with Sisco in the 25+ action as Michael scored the win. Melissa Bailey another nationally ranked rider took the 200 quad class keeping her August racing on a positive note. Local Pro-AM rider Matt Moore took 2 wins, Pro-AM quad over fellow McKenzian Randy Toombs and David Crittendon and Keith Lovins in the 16-24 quad class. 4Stroke C saw Joey Butterworth as smooth as he has been all year spreading out another win. Illinois sent her favorite sons down to take on the southerners in 2 stroke B with George Hertter and Justin Shelby filling the top slots.

The Tennessee State Stadia Cross Championship Series continues with 4 rounds remaining, next race is Sept 9th.
